Lab: Psychological Trauma and Chronic Pain Lab, located at the UCSD Medical School
Director:  Niloo Afari, Ph.D.
Description: Our research team investigates the epidemiology, risk factors and consequences of chronic pain. Particularly, we examine the relationship between psychological trauma and unexplained chronic medical
conditions as well as the implications this relationship may have on treatment and patient functioning. Research opportunities in the lab could include recruitment of participants, administering questionnaires and
interviews, entering data, conducting literature reviews, help with writing manuscripts, and some data analysis. This is definitely a great way of building your research experience if you are interested in going to graduate or medical school.
Requirements:
-          Must be punctual, reliable, and interested in research
-          At least Junior Status (preferred, but not mandatory)
-          A GPA of 3.3 or higher
-          Fairly flexible hours
-          Commitment of 2 to 3 quarters,12 hours a week for 4 unit credit

Lab: Infant Vision Lab - Professor Karen Dobkins lab in McGill Hall, Room 3118

Description: At the Infant Vision Lab, we strive to understand how various aspects of visual perception (such as color, motion, contrast and face perception) develop in the first year of life and interpret our results in light of what is known about brain development. Excellent research experience for those interested in graduate school or clinical occupations.
You will conduct vision assessments with infants between 2 and 7 months of age. You will learn how to analyze data and use various software applications

Requirements:
o        Must be punctual, reliable, friendly, and comfortable holding babies
o        Minimum 2.75 GPA
o        Junior or Senior standing
o        2 to 3 quarter commitment, 10 to 12 hours a week
