Lab: Dr. Sara Mednick's Laboratory of Sleep and Behavioral
Neuroscience in the Department of Psychiatry Description: Dr. Mednick's lab conducts research on sleep.
We are interested in 1) the relationship between napping and cognition,
2) how different sleep stages contribute to different cognitive mechanisms.
Students will have experience with every aspect of conducting research.
Students will be trained 1) to recruit subjects, 2) screen subjects on the
phone, 3) schedule studies, 4) conduct cognitive testing, 5) learn how to
perform EEG hook-ups for sleep studies, 6) score cognitive tasks, 7)
manage data sets. Students will also attend weekly lab meetings with Dr.
Mednick that are half organizational and half educational. They will also
have the opportunity to learn how data is organized and statistically analyzed,
how to ask scientific questions with data, and how to understand the results.
Three or four 199 positions are available.
We have four work periods available:
A: 6AM-11am
B: 8:45-1:45pm
C: 12:30-5:30pm
D: 1:45-6:45pm

Lab: Dr. David Liu’s Brain and Cognitive Development
Laboratory
Description: Are you curious about how children develop
a folk psychology to understand the social world around them? Are you fascinated
by the development of the human brain and mind? We are seeking motivated,
organized, and responsible research assistants to help conduct neurophysiological
and behavioral studies with young children. Your responsibilities may include
recruiting and running subjects, collecting and analyzing brain wave activity
and behavioral data, reading and discussing articles, and assisting with
the day-to-day functions of the research lab.
Requirements: Minimum 2 quarter commitment, 12 hrs/wk
